Welcome to Lent 2021. Each year, Christians around the world set aside time to reflect on the sacrifice and suffering Jesus endured on our behalf. We are all like lost sheep who need a shepherd. During the 40 days of Lent the drama of Jesus comes to life. We begin on Ash Wednesday and conclude during Holy Week. Along the way you are invited to retrace the footsteps of our Lord as he humbled himself to make a way for salvation from sin. After six weeks of our Lenten journey we get the best gift of all; Easter and the promise of the resurrection!
This year you are invited to join Prairie Lutheran Church in two experiences of faith. Every wednesday at 7:00pm. A Lenten WOrship Service will be held in the PLC sanctuary. You may either attend in-person or join on line. The service will use the Holden VIllage Vespers sung by the PLC Worship Team. A message will be offered each week by a PLC member as they share a faith story from theri life.
A second way to participate in Lent this year is participating in our Beautiful Feet emphasis. Read below for more information on this years’ ministry.
Lent means ‘to lengthen’. It refers to the lengthening of days during the weeks of Lent every spring. It also refers to the lengthened shadow of the cross. Jesus’ death covers all of our sins. Let us take time to get covered by his grace this spring!
Every Lenten season Prairie Lutheran Church champions one of our partner minsities. This year, 2021, we are lifting up 363 Ministries. Founder and Director, Alan Law, has been handing out handmade sandwiches for over 20 years. This year PLC will partner with Alan and his staff to provide nourishing sandwiches once again. New to Alan’s inventory are Energy Packs. These homemade packs are a welcome addition to sandwiches.
You are asked to hold onto your completed sandwiches and or Energy Packs until March 25. Please drop them off at PLC by 1:00. A staff member of 363 Ministries will stop by that afternoon and load all the Energy Packs and sandwiches into their van. They will bring them to their storage facilities for distribution over the next month.
