Dear Disciples,

The sun rose today. Above the far-off horizon and through wind-kissed leaves the sunlight shone. With every sunrise, rain drop, bird's song, and flower's beauty we are reminded of the all-encompassing presence of our Shepherd, Jesus Christ.

As the psalmist says, this is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it! What else can we do? What else have these last 17 months taught us except to embrace the day God has put in front of us -- with all its joys and sorrows, beauty and mess -- to simply embrace it all.

Why? Because Jesus is with us. Because the Holy Spirit gives us faith and equips us daily with exactly what we need to truly embrace each moment as they come. With that in mind, we are embracing the upcoming program year at Prairie Lutheran with our whole being while simultaneously embracing each day as they come.

Earlier this month, the Eden Prairie School District released their Safe Learning plan for the upcoming school year. Throughout the pandemic Prairie Lutheran has followed guidance from the CDC, Minnesota Department of Health, and Eden Prairie School District in order to help shape how we best serve our community of faith.

With that in mind, beginning this Sunday, September 5, Prairie Lutheran will recommend face coverings be worn in the building with the following exceptions:

  • Kindergarten through Grade 6: Face coverings are required
  • Staff & Volunteers: Face coverings are required when working with children Grade 6 and under

If you have not been vaccinated, I would strongly encourage you to do so. Please see the Minnesota Department of Health's page on Covid-19 for more information.

In the midst of this thing we call life with its hills and valleys, uncertainties and calm, we can say confidently that today is a good day. Why? Because this is the day the Lord has made -- and together, through and in the Holy Spirit, let's embrace the day that has been put before us as we love our neighbors in the same way Jesus first loved us: Abundantly and unconditionally.

In Christ's love,
Pastor Bryant
