April 17, 2017
Yesterday our sanctuary was filled with the sounds, scents and celebration of Easter. Christ has risen! He has risen indeed! That is the wonderful proclamation that holds us together as people of promise.
This spring there are a number of events to which I want to draw your attention. This coming Sunday, April 23, we kick off our annual Giving Campaign, called, “Why I Give!” During the next four weeks various members of PLC will be sharing the reasons why they give to the ministries of PLC. The goal is to increase your awareness of our positive growth as a faith community. It is also a call to action for everyone to be a cheerful giver.
This year our congregation has focused on the Holy Habit of Serving. We began the program year last September by adorning birch trees in the sanctuary with leaves on which we wrote how we serve in the world. On Sunday, June 4, we are hosting a congregation-wide serving event. Following the 9:00am worship service you are invited to help plant one of the 100 tree seedlings on our hillside. This will raise up a future forest in testimony to our dedication to serving God and serving others!
Lastly, I want to announce the twin themes for our congregation next year. Our Sunday- centric theme will be the Gospel of John. Our worship and learning will focus on the fourth Gospel. And our Holy Habit theme will be Worship. The key goal will be for everyone to embrace a lifestyle of worship, as St. Paul proclaims in Romans 12:1.
Thank you for serving the Risen Lord Jesus. He is faithful and has plans to prosper and to protect us.
